I know this information was released last January 2008 but I am posting this "good-to-know" information because I have tried it myself and would like to inform other Filipino freelancers out there that there is an alternative way to withdraw your Paypal funds aside from credit cards or debit cards.

You may way to check out this page which gives the detailed steps for you to Withdraw your funds to your Local Bank Account

http://pages.ebay.ph/bankwithdrawal/

And I am quoting this from the same page:

"For Philippine users, withdrawals of PHP 7,000 or more are free. For withdrawal amounts less than PHP 7,000 there will be a fee of PHP 50. For Indonesian users, withdrawals of IDR 1.5 million or more are free. For withdrawal amounts of less than IDR 1.5 million, there will be a fee of IDR 16,000."

Now the important thing that you need to indicate on that is your bank code. So here is a complete list :

Ever wonder how to increase your blog traffic? Most of the articles and ebooks that I have been reading about Increasing your traffic points to researching good keywords for your website. This is quite challenging for me because I prefer to write whatever comes out of my head. And I never realized the importance of these said "keywords" not until I become a blogger. So now, I have a few good reads and great tools which will help us get a higher page rank.

Clipnabber: Easy way to Download Videos from Youtube, Megavideo, Dailymotion, Veoh, Tudou and many more!

I love watching videos from youtube and even tudou. However, there are times that I got irritated when I see that buffering messages everytime I watch. Also, there are cases that when you want to watch your favorite youtube video again, it was already deleted. And now I though that it must be good to just download the video and save it on pc hardrive. Much more that I like the idea when my daughter had that mini MP3 / MP4 player.

If you will google internet, you will find a lot of software that will help you in downloading these file. But I choose CLIPNABBER since it is web-based tool so you do not need to download it.

To download the video as an FLV file, follow these steps:
1. Go to : http://clipnabber.com/ and then type the URL of the video link on the PASTE URL box.
2. Click NAB VIDEO button.
3. Right click on FLV DOWNLOAD LINK
4. Select SAVE TARGET AS
5. Select the drive or folder where you would like to save the file through the SAVE IN box.

6. Type the name of the file on the FILE NAME box.
7. Click SAVE.

Note: Use Internet Explorer.

Just wait until the file is fully downloaded. Then, you can watch the file using an FLV player. If you have other type of players or would like to use a gadget such as PSP or MP4 player to watch the movie, then you need to convert the file on the desired format.

And here is a helpful information from clipnabber help page:

How do I convert .flv files for use on my iPod or PSP?
There are several applications you can use for this purpose. Here are a couple that are free (at least shareware) and have been known to work. For Windows: Replay Converter. For Mac: iSquint or ffmpegX.

But my husband downloaded Xilisoft Software so that is the one we are currently using to convert the files.

By the way, here are the list of websites that you can download through clipnabber.

That's basically it! And now you could enjoy watching your favorite videos!

Cheap Multimedia Player (Mp4/MP3/Game)

I haven't been able to post frequently last month because my daughter is now a computer savvy person (by the way she is just about 3 years old.. hehehe). So my husband and I tried to find a way to divert her attention from the computer. We thought of buying her that kiddie laptop (just the cheap one that would cost around 2000 pesos). However, when we saw it, we thought that she will not enjoy such gadget because it doesn't have a colored display. So we try to look for an alternative and we found the Portable MP4/MP3/Game Player. I believe it is worth buying for our daughter because she would surely enjoy the features of this device (I think the one we bought is not original since its not that expensive, it only cost 2000 pesos). It has an Audio player (MP3) which is good because she loves to sing. Then, it has the Video player (MP4) so you can play movies (Later on I will discuss how we uploaded movies on that device). Of course, what she would love the most is the Gaming part. We uploaded .ness games on the device so she now enjoys playing Super Mario, Galaga, Ice Climber, etc. It also has other features such as a calculator & notepad reader.

Specifications:

Image & Specs Source: www.gindart.com

Portable MulMP4/MP3/Game Player has 1GB internal memory and it also has an expandable memory so you can use an SD Card if you feel that 1GB is not enough. We used the SD card for my daughter's favorites movies such as Ice Age 1 & 2, Finding Nemo, Alvin & the Chipmunks, Monster Inc and Flushed Away (I will be creating seperate post for these movie links). But one of the disadvantages that I am seeing right now with this device is its battery, it's play time would only last for a couple of hours. I am not sure if we are not charging the battery correctly, so we have to check with the seller if it really works that way. Also, you may want to take a look at the upgraded versions of these MP4 players because they look nicer, like this one:

Anyways, I have learned so much regarding downloading files and converting them to formats that are compatible with this player. Moreover, I was able to look for movie links that your children will surely love. Thus, stay tuned for my posts. =)

Free Skin MD Natural for Bloggers!

There are times that natural skin care remedies are not enough in maintaining a glowing, supple and smooth skin. So we tend to look for other means of protecting our skin from sunlight and pollutants . One of which is with the use of a lotion. Now, you have the opportunity as a blogger to try Skin MD Natural for free. I got this interesting offer from Pete and I would like to share it with you and I quote :

“We are giving a free full sized bottle of Skin MD Natural ($18 value) to interested bloggers, in exchange for a review of the product on their blog (or website, magazine, etc.)! All we ask is that they have an active public blog and post regularly, and promise to promptly post their review of Skin MD Natural after trying it out. That's it!”

Here are some helpful information about the Product:
Name: Skin MD Natural
Description:Shielding lotion for face , body, and hands. Exceptionally enhances your skin's hydrating and protective abilities
Selling Price:$18 US for 4oz bottle
Manufacturer:21st Century Formulations
Website: www.SkinMDNatural.com

"A Shielding Lotion is far more effective as a dry skin care treatment than mere moisturizing lotions or protective creams. If you suffer from dry skin, you know that just using a moisturizing lotion doesn't solve the problem.

Skin MD Natural™ is promptly absorbed, without the slightest hint of any greasy or oily feeling or residue, transforming the outer layer of skin into a hydrating invisible shield.

Glycerin has been the standard against which all humectants are measured. Until now no other humectant drew in as much moisture from the air as glycerin. But the proprietary formulation in Skin MD Natural™ has a moisturizing factor of at least 6 times greater than glycerin. "

So would you like to be free from any skin problems? And are you up for a challenge? If you are, then send your intention to Pete at : petegrimaldi@earthlink.net and don't forget to include your mailing address. I just received my free sample two days ago so I'll be trying this out this week.

Easy and Delicious Melt-in-your-mouth Chocolate cake

It's my oldest sister's birthday today and I thought of baking a cake for her instead of cooking the baked macaroni. I wanna try something new and so I told her daughters about my plan and they said that they will help me out.

It'll be the very first cake that I will bake so I googled a recipe for an easy chocolate cake. And the most interesting of the search result is the Melt-In-Your-Mouth Chocolate Cake by Clotilde of Chocolate & Zucchini

As you can see, the ingredients are easy to find, food processor or a mixer is not needed and the procedures are easy to follow. So here is our very own version:

I doubled the recipe to have a bigger cake but then I forgot the parchment paper. I guess that is the reason why that the sides were quite burned so I should say that it was not that successful. But since hubby like anything that has to do with chocolates, I will bake this again and make necessary adjustments according to our taste buds. Hopefully, Ill have a better cake on my next endeavor.

2. Add your name (linked to your blog)
3. Tag everybody else!

Kid’s Question #1
If you were the ruler of the world and you could have anything you wanted as well as have people do anything you wanted, do you think you would get greedy and mean or would you be a good and fair ruler?

Although I would like to be a good and fair ruler, I guess there would be times that I will be greedy and mean. For example, if I will face a situation wherein some of my people are selfish, then I will be forced to teach them some lesson which may make me a greedy and mean ruler. And I guess a little greediness wont hurt if the situation calls for it.

She even cried during the interview. She told Oprah that she has been dreaming to be in her show and she can't believe that she is now hugging Oprah. I like that! Here is the full clip of Charice Pempengco on Oprah Winfrey Show (with interview).

Scholarship & Grants in the Philippines

It's so difficult to get a job here in the Philippines. The competition in the market is too tough. And I know that it will be more difficulty to apply for work if you don't have a high school / college diploma. Reality bites.... Philippines is still one of the poorest country in the world. However, I believe that there are still a lot of intelligent people who deserve to be in a classroom, reading a book instead of selling sampaguita flowers on the streets.

I used to think that I can't go to high school, much more to enter college. Guess what? God answered my prayers and gave me a guardian angel in the form of my teachers who helped me find a scholarships. I also know some of my friends who finished their studies by being a working student. Thus, there is always a solution to a problem.

The point is, there are ways for you to get the diploma you have been dreaming about. You just have to have the guts to find a solution (at times, you also need to find the right connection) and pray a lot. With this in mind, I tried to search for the scholarships available to our young Filipino citizen. Here is my list:

http://www.gov.ph/faqs/scholarships.asp - This is actually a list program/company sites that was collated by the Philippine Goverment.

Panasonic Scholarship Grant

Meralco Foundation

University of the Philippines Scholarship Program

PAMPANGA

***Holy Angel University (HAU) Scholarship & Grants

***Angeles University Foundation (AUF) Scholarships

***Angeles University Foundation School of Medicine Scholarships

***Republic Central Colleges (RCC) Scholarship Grants

I know, that a big percentage of the people who are worthy of the scholarships may not even have the chance to read my blog. So if you reading this and know someone who deserve any of these grants, please do inform them. You'll never know that your little act of kindness will change the person's life.

If you also know other scholarships or grants here in the Philippines, please feel free to put a comment and I'll add them on the list.

Networking Techniques to Increase Blog Traffic

It excites me everytime I see my mailbox full of messages from my blog readers. And thus, one of my ultimate blogging dream is to have continuous traffic on my blog. Because that would just prove that I am making some sense to other people. I got to be honest, my blog is just pagerank 3 and I havent been earning that much from blogging so why would people care to read what I am writing?

Page Rank CheckI am not expecting internet users to read my money making techniques or whatsoever. I just want to put everything in a journal and maybe someday when I become successful, I can look back and say “Hey guys what I have mentioned before regarding this ..& that… are working. You can see me now, I am earning 4-digit a month because of affiliate marketing, adsense, paidposting, etc” (in my dreams!?!?... Well, lets wait and see…) Also, I am writing these things so that other successful bloggers who may be peeking or taking a glimpse of my humble site can tell me if what I am doing is right or wrong. I have always been checking other blogs to compare notes, see if I am taking the right path. So now, let me tell you some basic tips which may have been one reason why I have google pagerank 3 and why I have readers subscribe on my feed (thanks to you guys!).

1. Blog hopping. If you have been reading my blog, you would always notice that I often use the phrase “Blog Hop” & “Blog Hopping.” And the truth is, I really do blog hop. Why? As I have mentioned above, I am not an expert so I want to learn techniques on how to be a successful blogger. I need to know what my co-bloggers are doing which may have been working with them , thus, I can try it on my end. Also, I blog hop so that I can collate links of helpful information that I can share with others (it works both ways because I also get to promote the Website that I like).

2. Taking Advantage of Blog Comments. I am not saying that in every blog that you visit, you have put comments (not necessarily). But I do believe that every blog has its own beauty, if you can devote quality time with a blog that are of your interests, try to check out its archive and you can definitely see one post that is worthy of a beautiful comment. If you really care about the blogger (and have enough courage), then you can add a feedback on how to improve the site.

3. Joining popular online communities. This I guess has the greatest contribution of what I have achieved already. Some of the online communities that I am into right now are :
  • Blogcatalog – Very accomodating community where you get to meet a lot of bloggers that are writing about different topics. If you want to look for bloggers that have the same interests as yours, then you can check out the blogcatalog group. Blogcatalog is one of the largest and well-known blog directory so you should have your blog url listed in this community.
  • Entrecard – One of the most popular networking strategies in the blogging world is entrecard. I actually consider this as an advertising community because, the idea is to basically visit a site through the entrecard badge. Although some may say that entrecard dropping is not a good idea, I think it still depends on the blogger. What I actually do after clicking on the entrecard badge, I still take some time to read the blog and check out some interesting posts. There are times that I even got inspired by this unknown blogger. So be wise when using entrecard and make the most out of it.
  • StumbleUpon – This is a very helpful tool in sharing good content. What you actually do when you use StumbleUpon is similar to the idea of adding frequently visited sites on your browser’s Favorites or Bookmarks and sharing your list with your family & friends. Install the StumbleUpon toolbar and get started with your favorites list.
  • Technorati – Quite similar to stumbleupon but this doesn’t require any software installation. Just create a Technorati profile and you can start storing your frequently visited blogs on your favorites. Im still learning the process and if you want to know more about it to check out Technorati Support.
  • Mybloglog – Just like blogcatalog, mybloglog allows you to get connected with other bloggers. It also has a large community so you get to meet and be linked with many people. Moreover, you also get to add a widget and track your site visitors. To get more information about Mybloglog, visit : http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mybloglog
  • Friendster – I’ve been a member of friendster (I think long before I started blogging). My original goal was to meet my long lost friends and family. Also, to update my loved ones about my interesting life. But lately, I noticed other friendster friends, that they have shoutouts about their blog. That’s a good idea. So I inserted my blog URL on my shoutout. And if you don’t have any blog, you can actually create a blog on your friendster account.
  • Myspace – I am not a subscriber of myspace but I guess it works just like friendster. But I’ll be subscribing on this community soon at : http://www.myspace.com
4. Blog Tagging – Some bloggers are fond of this strategy. Well, I am not into tagging because there are times that the topic they are discussing is not in line with my blog theme. So, in as much as I would like to participate, I tend not to react to that tag or if I will respond, I do it on my other blog. I believe tagging is more appropriate to personal blogs where you can write about anything and yes, it really helps in expanding your network.

That’s basically it! If you have networking techniques that are not on my list, I’ll be glad to hear them out. =)

Whateverlife: A young girl power!

I am a working-mom (having a regular work plus blogging plus writing plus designing and many more...) so I know how hard it is to balance your work and family. Much more to have a very successful career. But I have been trying to be the best in whatever I do. And I do get inspired whenever I heard or read that a woman is being recognized as successful in her field.

So as I was browsing the internet, looking for ways on how to be successful, I got interested in this little girl's BIG POWER : Ashley Qualls. "AshBo" (her nickname) is a blog entreprenuer who earn an estimated of $70,000 per month just because of providing FREE Myspace Layouts on her website Whateverlife.com. So her earnings are mainly from advertising.

^ Layouts, Graphics, Tutorials, and more ^

Since the site has a lot of unique visitors and pageviews per day, there would be a lot of people who can possibily click her ads. Here's an excerpt from Fastcompany article:

"According to Google Analytics, Whateverlife attracts more than 7 million individuals and 60 million page views a month. That's a larger audience than the circulations of Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and CosmoGirl! magazines combined. Although Web-site rankings vary with the methodology, Quantcast, a popular source among advertisers, ranked Whateverlife.com a staggering No. 349 in mid-July out of more than 20 million sites. Among the sites in its rearview mirror: Britannica.com, AmericanIdol.com, FDA .gov, and CBS.com."

And what's more amazing is that this girl is just 17 years old. Another exerpt from Fastcompany.com:

"At 17 going on 37 (at least), Ashley is very much an Internet professional. In the less than two years since Whateverlife took off, she has dropped out of high school, bought a house, helped launch artists such as Lily Allen, and rejected offers to buy her young company. Although Ashley was flattered to be offered $1.5 million and a car of her choice--as long as the price tag wasn't more than $100,000--she responded, in effect, Whatever. :) "I don't even have my license yet," she says."

I haven't tried creating an account on Myspace so I have never used Whateverlife's free Myspace layouts. But based from her website's online analytics, I know that she (and her team) really creates wonderful layouts. I may never be a fan of Myspace but I am now a fan of Ashley, creator of Whateverlife.com.
