My Recipes: Grilled Milkfish in Tomato Soup (Sinigang sa Kamatis na Isdang Ihaw)

Sinigang is a popular dish here in the Philippines. It's basically known for its sour taste. One way to get a sour taste on your dish is by using Tomatoes (kamatis). So we will be using tomatoes` on the the recipe that I'll be sharing with you which is also one of my favorites. My mother would always cook this when I am still living with them and she actually doesnt have a name for this dish (I think she just learned the recipe from my grandmother as well), so when I would request that dish, I'll have to explain the whole dish to her. Now, I just thought of calling the dish as Grilled Fish in Tomato Soup (in tagalog: Sinigang sa Kamatis na Isdang Ihaw). Later on you will discover that from the name itself, you will know how to cook this refreshing dish. So let's start!

Ingredients:
2 pcs Milkfish, sliced
1 bunch Kangkong leaves (use the tender ones only)
6 pcs tomatoes, chopped
2 tsp Shrimp Paste (Bagoong in tagalog)
3 pcs long green chili
1 pc Onion
3 cloves Garlic
4 cups Water
Salt

Here's how to cook:
1. Grill the sliced Milk Fish and set aside.
2. Saute garlic, onions and shrimp paste. Add tomatoes and let it simmer for 3 minutes or until tomatoes are soft (you can put a cover on the pan so that it'll be easier to cook the tomatoes).
3. Then add 4 cups of water and the grilled fish as well. Bring it to boil then add kangkong leaves and long green chili.
4. Let it simmer for five minutes.

Try it and tell me if you like the recipe.

How to Earn Money Online : More than 70 Great Links where you can earn cash

Is it really possible to earn money through internet? The answer is “YES” and I believe a lot of people would agree with me. I think the follow up question to that is how to earn money online?

There are many ways in which you can earn a decent income while online. Let me categorize them into two:
1. Be an online employee
2. Sell Product

BE AN ONLINE EMPLOYEE
How would you feel working at the comforts of your home? Well, that thought is very much appealing to me. I bet all Mother’s out there who are trying to make ends meet and still prefer to be with their children while working would definitely love that idea too. Let’s say thank you to the brilliant people who created the internet for making this thought into a reality. Now you can be an online employee by looking for a online job.

Where exactly can you get an online job? I got my first online earnings from my ghostwriting, big THANKS to my friend “Malou Barry,” (not her true name of course), she was the one who encouraged me to write so that I can have an extra income. Now, she is one of my mentors when it comes to “making money online.” Why am I sharing this? Just to let you know that you can really earn money by using your talent. Either be a temporary helper of a client or an employee of a company. If you know how to write articles or ebook, design blogs or websites, create graphics, do data entry, be a technical guru, teach online and others then you may meet your future client or boss at any of the following freelancing sites:

1. Rentacoder: Although the site imposes a high commission, I personally like it because this is where I mostly got my project from. They even have arbitration if the coder and buyer didn’t agree in some point. And if ever you have other problems within the site, rentacoder staff will really look into the issue and make a resolution.
2. Getafreelancer Most of my friends have good experiences on this site and they said its highly recommendable. The site posts a lot of projects everyday.
3. Scriptlance : This site posts both temporary and permanent work. So you can check on their Project List as well as on their Job Listings. Check out their Job Listings because that is where you can get a more permanent job from one of the prospect clients.
4. Guru : The site both has a free and premium subscription. I only got one client from that site because I don’t have the premium account. You may want to give it a try and see if you got the talent that the clients are looking for.
5. Online Writing Jobs : If you are a writer then this site is for you. It has job listings of clients looking for different kinds of writers (technical, creative, academic, etc.

These are the major freelance job database that I have had experience with. So you can also visit other sites such as : Go Freelance , GET A CODER and Elance.

If you are looking for a permanent homebased job, you can explore the popular Job Banks such as: Jobstreet.com, Monster.com, Bestjobs.ph (for Filipinos), etc. and just use the search term “homebased,” “work at home,” or “telecommute” to get a list of homebased jobs.

II. SELL A PRODUCT
Another way to earn money online is by selling a product either directly or indirectly. Directly selling a product is the best option if you want to earn more but that is more tedious compared to just recommending the product or service and encouraging others to buy it. Decide which path you are heading according to your abilities and resources. Why do I say so? Because if you will be directly selling a product, you need to have a capital. Otherwise, venture on just being an affiliate and invest by using your writing talents. So let me tell you the different ways you can earn money online using your “selling power.”

A. Participate in Auction Sites or Build an online Business.
Selling products online is very profitable specially if your products are unique and has high demand. My sister is now a homebased Mom, making a living out of her online business. What does she do? She actually is a power seller in Ebay.ph (leonalianne) and Auction.ph. Mind you, my sister is not a computer geek at first but she already has that “selling power” offline. So if you have that ability as well, then you can visit sites like
1. Ebay.com
2. Auction.ph (Philippines only)
3. Amazon.com
4. Ubid
5. Bidz

If you want to invest more, you can create a website and embed an ecommerce on your page so people can directly purchase from your site.

B. Monetize from your blog
Creating a post can be so much fun if you really do like writing. It does not only becomes your outlet when you happy or sad, but it also allows you get to know a lot of people from around the world because you got great and not so good comments from people whom you never meet. And the best thing about blogs is you can even earn some money from it. Here’s how:
  • Paid Posting/Review : I am tempted to go into this direction with the recommendation of my friends but I havent signed up to any of Get Paid to Post programs just because I havent had the time yet. So what is Paid Posting all about? It is one type of GPT program (which I would later on discuss) that would require you to create a post or a review about a website product or service on your own blog. And in order for you to be a qualified reviewer or endorser you need to have a blog which is at least 2 months old. Some websites may have different requirements so make sure that you carefully read the terms and agreement before you apply. After which you can create a post or review that is in English and contains at least 200 words. Sounds easy for you? If yes then you can now visit some of these Paid Posting or Review Sites:

1. 451 Press
2. Blogitive
3. Blogmeout
4. Blogsvertise
5. BlogToProfit
6. BOTW Media
7. BuyBlogReviews
8. Loudlaunch
9. MoneyTYZ
10. Payperpost.com
11. PayU2Blog
12. Review me
13. SnapBomb
14. Smorty.com
15. Sponsored Reviews

Blog Advertising - Get Paid to Blog

  • Adsense: I havent had big earnings on Adsense but my brother is earning a decent income from Google and I have read stories of people who are really earning from Adsense. Take a look at this article from John Chow (a site that I frequently visit which has a lot of interesting articles) "The Internet Biggest Google Whores"and be inspired.

  • Become an Affiliate or Advertiser (Advertisements) – I’ve excluded Google from this list just because a lot of people are making a living out of Google Adsense. However, there are still a lot of Programs or Companies out there that needs your help in advertising their product. You can check out the Paid to Post sites that I have provided above because most of them have an affiliate program as well. But if you want to earn more money through affiliate marketing, you can check out this big companies:

1. Commission Junction
2. Linkshare
3. Amazon

C. Participate in GPT
Get-Paid-To (GPT) Programs – So what is GPT? Get-Paid-To are programs that would tell you do to something and they will pay you for that. Paid to Post which was already discussed on the previous topic is one example of Get-Paid-To (GPT) programs. However, there are still other types of Get-Paid-To (GPT) programs that doesn’t require for you to have a blog. I'm not experienced when it comes to Get-Paid-To (GPT) programs but I have read a lot interesting articles about this topic. Some are earning a small enough but if you have all the time in the world to always be in front of your computer, then you may want to engage into this programs and earn at least $100 a month. However, you need to be extra careful because there are a lot of scams on the internet especially with Get-Paid-To (GPT) programs. I’ll be giving you an extensive list of Get-Paid-To (GPT) programs that I got from through research from forum and blog hopping

My Recipes: Chicken in Mushroom sauce

I love cooking and my husband just told me that my mother-in-law bragged about me (specifically my cooking style) in front of my sisters-in-law. (I'm touched to the max). Well, I dont call myself an expert in that expect because I am still learning (and enjoying) the art of cooking. But the good thing is "I know the basics" (so far..). And if case I forgot how to cook a particular dish, my mother and sisters are just a text away.

So yesterday I tried cooking Chicken in Mushroom sauce (I forgot to take a snapshot of my masterpiece, I'll just update my blog once I have a picture of the recipe). My daughter's all time favorite is Fried Chicken so I just made a twist out of it. The easiest way to explain the recipe is "mix the friend chicken with the gravy made of mushroom sauce", that's it! For those who are into cooking 101, let me give you the details of Chicken in a Mushroom Sauce Recipe.

Ingredients
3 pcs Chicken thigh (cut into preferred sizes)
1 egg
1 pc onion
3 cloves of garlic
3 tbs cream of mushroom (I use Knorr Cream of Mushroom in powder. If you will be using powdered cream of mushroom, dissolve it first in water and set aside)
1 can of Mushrooms, sliced
all purpose flour
cooking Oil
salt & pepper

1. Beat egg in a bowl and add salt. Dip chicken into the mixture and roll them into the flour.
2. Fry the chicken and set aside.
3. In another pan, saute garlic, onions and mushroom. Pour the mushroom sauce and let it boil for 3 minutes in low heat. Put salt and pepper in accordance to your taste.

Note: You can add water or mushroom sauce to achieve the desired thickness.

Now you are ready to serve your yummy dish.

Only in the Philippines: A "Holy Week" to Remember

So what is Holy Week like in the Philippines? Filipinos have had strong faith in God. They not only regularly pray to God but they also do some rituals and practices which others may think as inappropriate. Just like this video.

If you will be checking out Youtube and type "Holy Week Pampanga" you will have a list of similar videos. As I have been reading the comments and messages of people around the world, others say that this is a crazy thing to do. Well, I do respect your opinion on that one. But these people have reasons why they do these acts. Who are we to question their faith. As long as they are not hurting other people, I think they do deserve some respect to.

I have been living here in the Philippines all years of my life and I have been exposed to these rituals called "Flagellation" during Holy Week. They call these in our language as "Panata." I thought back then that its a normal practice. Well, I'm not saying that I've done such rituals but we Filipinos really do have some unique ways of expressing our faith in God. Some do some Novena, Station of the Cross, pray the Holy Rosary and even Visita Iglesia.

About Station of the Cross
According to Dennis Bratcher "The Stations of the Cross has two related meanings. In one sense, the Stations of the Cross refers to the liturgical practice of using various events in the final hours of Jesus’ life as a structure for prayer and meditation (also called the Via Crucis or Way of the Cross). These events encompass Jesus’ journey carrying his cross from the Hall of Pilate where he was condemned to death to the site of his execution on Golgotha (Calvary)." To get more info about The Station of the Cross visit his site at : http://www.crivoice.org/stations.html

About Visita Iglesia
Visita Iglesia is a practice done by Christians during Holy Thursday where they visit Seven Churches. So why do they do this? Here is the answer I got from "The Catholic Herald"

"The custom goes back to the early Church when Christians would visit the seven great basilicas in Rome for adoration of the blessed sacrament after the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday. The sacramentary, the official altar book of the Church, says that after this Mass, "The faithful should be encouraged to continue adoration before the blessed sacrament for a suitable period of time during the night, according to local circumstances, but there should be no solemn adoration after midnight.

Visita Iglesia is a practice in cities, where there are many churches, in countries as diverse as Malta, Poland, Ireland and The Philippines. Filipinos have brought it to places in North America that never had it before."

But bottom line is Holy week is time for us to reflect and repent.... Its doesnt matter how we do it... but whats important is that we give time to glorify God for the great sacrifice He has done for all of us.

Make your Holy Week significant to Our Father.

Slideroll: Pictures on slides!

A gorgeous friend of mine asked me to create a blog for her. The blog talks about a local pageant here in Philippines. Since it was all about beautiful body, we need to post a lot of pictures. So I found this nice slideshow maker which was called SLIDEROLL. Take a look at the blog that I made and view the sliderolls.

The difference between pictobrowser and slideroll is that the pictobrowser is just like an organizer of your pictures because it actually uses your flickr picture database. With slideroll, it allows you to upload your pictures to their server and it automatically creates a slideshow for you (like a movie!). It also allows you to add music to the slideroll itself which makes it more interesting. So try out the SLIDEROLL to get your pictures rolling!

Blog Success: Getting Page Rank 2

I am so happy today coz as I was browsing the pinayblogger forum, I bumped into a pagerank checker ads on that site. So I thought of checking my blog's page rank. Guess what? I now have PR 2. YIPEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! I never expected that my blog would already have a page rank coz I was really hopeless and just focused on providing freebie-ous information.

Google Pagerank Checker

courtesy of :
http://www.googlepagerankchecker.com

I even checked it using other page rank checker(http://www.prchecker.info) and here is what I have

Free PageRank Checker

Host Unlimited Domains
The list of chosen Unlimited domain hosting providers that offer cheap web hosting services with support of UNLIMITED domain names on 1 single hosting account.

If you will be asking me, how I got this Page Rank, I still dont know but definitely there are a lot of factors. Here are the things that I think will help you get a pagerank:

1. Be consistent. Make it a habit to post new things on your blog (that is of course associated with your blog theme). Although I am still struggling on this area, I know that this is one big factor for your site visitors to continue accessing your blog. It is great if you can at least have a post in a day, however there are times that you run out of words to say, well, I guess its better to just relax during those times instead of pushing yourself so hard so you can write something just for the heck of having a post for that day. Right? But then there are days that you have a lot of things on your mind. One technique that you can use is to create drafts of those posts, then just reserve some for the other days. That would help you have a post for the coming days that you may have a brain damage... hehehe

2. Socialize. It is recommeded that you know how to deal with other bloggers. Networking really works because in this way, you get to expand your audience. Join online communities such as :

Internet Blogs - Blog Catalog Blog Directory

Then, you can also add a blogroll on your page so that you can exchange links with others. Some of my friends who has higher page rank even have this "tagging scheme" which I believe really works for them. I dont apply that on my blog coz this is not really a personal blog and I guess that works on blogs that talks about one's life.
There are still a lot of networking sites for bloggers so you can just google them up and give them a try!

3. Be accomodating. There are times that visitors would email you and request something from you like featuring their page on your blog. Always say "Yes" to those request (as long as the site is appropriate to your theme). Be grateful that they ask for your help, it just means that they do like your blog.

4. Learn from others. Never be afraid to ask because that is one way to know the ins and outs of the blogging world. There are a lot of blog icons out there so socialize with these people coz you'll learn a lot from them.

And last piece of advice is to live by your blogs vision and mission. Sounds so professional huh? Well, in simple terms, just stick with your blog theme.

Hey, I'm not an expert coz I know there are still a lot of things to consider so you can be very visible online. So if you have some more advice and tips to have a higher page rank, please do tell me. =)

Thank you for your interest, and it had better be genuine and non-sexual. Please allow four to six years for processing.

You will be contacted in writing if you are approved. Please do not try to call or write (since you probably can't, and it would cause you injury). If your application is rejected, you will be notified by two gentlemen wearing white ties carrying violin cases (you might want to watch your back) .

To prepare yourself, start studying Daddy's Rules for Dating.

Daddy's Rules for Dating
Your dad's rules for your boyfriend (or for you if you're a guy):

Rule One:
If you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're surely not picking anything up.

Rule Two:
You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter's body, I will remove them.

Rule Three:
I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of your friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise: You may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, in order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact come off during the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist.

Rule Four:
I'm sure you've been told that in today's world, sex without utilizing a 'Barrier method' of some kind can kill you. Let me elaborate, when it comes to sex, I am the barrier, and I will kill you.

Rule Five:
It is usually understood that in order for us to get to know each other, we should talk about sports, politics, and other issues of the day. Please do not do this. The only information I require from you is an indication of when you expect to have my daughter safely back at my house, and the only word I need from you on this subject is: 'early.'

Rule Six:
I have no doubt you are a popular fellow, with many opportunities to date other girls. This is fine with me as long as it is okay with my daughter. Otherwise, once you have gone out with my little girl, you will continue to date no one but her until she is finished with you. If you make her cry, I will make you cry.

Rule Seven:
As you stand in my front hallway, waiting for my daughter to appear, and more than an hour goes by, do not sigh and fidget. If you want to be on time for the movie, you should not be dating. My daughter is putting on her makeup, a process than can take longer than painting the Golden Gate Bridge. Instead of just standing there, why don't you do something useful, like changing the oil in my car?

Rule Eight:
The following places are not appropriate for a date with my daughter: Places where there are beds, sofas, or anything softer than a wooden stool. Places where there is darkness. Places where there is dancing or holding hands. Places where the ambient temperature is warm enough to induce my daughter to wear shorts, tank tops, midriff T-shirts, or anything other than overalls, a sweater, and a goose down parka - zipped up to her throat. Movies with a strong romantic or sexual themes are to be avoided; movies that feature chain saws are okay. Hockey games are okay. Old folks homes are better.

Rule Nine:
Do not lie to me. I may appear to be a potbellied, balding, middle-aged, dimwitted has-been. But on issues relating to my daughter, I am the all-knowing, merciless god of your universe. If I ask you where you are going and with whom, you have one chance to tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have a shotgun, a shovel, and five acres behind the house. Do not trifle with me.

Rule Ten:
Be afraid. Be very afraid. It takes very little for me to mistake the sound of your car in the driveway for a chopper coming in over a rice paddy near Hanoi. When my Agent Orange starts acting up, the voices in my head frequently tell me to clean the guns as I wait for you to bring my daughter home. As soon as you pull into the driveway you should exit the car with both hands in plain sight. Speak the perimeter password, announce in a clear voice that you have brought my daughter home safely and early, then return to your car - there is no need for you to come inside. The camouflaged face at the window is mine.

Proudly Filipino: Celebrity Blogs

Reading celebrity blogs allows you to get to know a star's simplicity. Meaning, you get to know the real emotions and thoughts of the people that we always put on a pedestal. There are two celebrity blogs that I often read and these are "The World According to Manang" or Bigsis222 Multiply site (Lea Salonga's blog) and Kooki Multiply site (KC Concepcion's blog). Now, I am not wondering why these two stars outshine the others, became popular and a lot of people are really looking up to them. They are not just talented but very smart too.

I gathered a list of celebrity blogs which you may be interested with. Here's my list:
